I remember watching a documentary a while back saying that in the US, a good proportion of people do not wear seatbelts which is why airbags in US cars are more powerful than in Europe where nearly everyone wears seatbelts in cars (but hardly ever in buses or trains!!!).

A link to the column is appreciated. We know air bags can kill people; do they actually save anybody?
