Looking at joining my daughter’s cheerleading team on a European tour. Group director tells us group airfare is higher than we can find for individual tickets. Does this sound right? I would think someone buying 100 tickets at once would get a better deal.
The group director is probably right to a point.
Say you want to buy tickets for 12 people. If there are 3 seats left in fare class A and 15 seats in fare class B, the airline is going to sell you 12 seats in B even though it’s a higher rate so that you don’t question their pricing too deeply.
For 100 it is more likely that they’ll group all of the available classes together and average the cost per ticket. So some will pay more, some will pay less than if you’d booked them individually but if you each look at the available price today it looks like everyone is paying more.
Moved Cafe Society --> IMHO.
Seems the director is correct.
