Looks like, as president of the Houston County Flyers, I will be an ex-officio member of the comittee. I don’t get to vote, just “advise”

I should explain there are several clubs at the airport (I belong to one) who own airplane(s). There are also individuals and partnerships that own airplane(s). The Houston County Flyers is an umbrella organization that everyone who uses (or used) the airport is a member of.

The main (just about only) activity of the HCF is to have the annual fly-in/drive-in breakfast. (last Sunday in June)

A few years ago the president resigned and I as secretary got railroaded into the president position. Even though there are theoretically term limits I have remained president ever since. Mostly becuse the position has all responsibility and no power (all the breakfast workers are volunteers, I can’t make em do anything. My only power is negative – I could probaly make the breakfast (going on 40 years) not happen.

So now I have more responsibility and the same power(none). whoo hoo!

I managed a small G.A. airport for several years and the Experimental Airport Association held fly/drive-ins, with pancake breakfasts, most every Fall to raise funds for their organization. Many of the members served rotationally on the Airport Commission for which I kept the meeting minutes. They had no spending authority for airport matters as that was under the local government’s aegis. I think their greatest source of (EAA) income came a couple of years before I moved on, when they charged for (car) access and parking. (MPSIMS)
