“I can’t believe that the people of Florida want to see the expression of their will taken away by politicians,” the vice president said in an interview with CNN’s John King. “The people of Florida have the right to select the candidate for president that they want. If the politicians ever tried to take that away from the people, I think you’d see quite a negative response to it.”
After reeling from the shock of the implication that politicians might actually lie, I took some comfort in the fact that none of the statements you quoted were, in fact, factually untrue. Some hypocricy in there, I guess, but nothing that could be considered an actual outright lie.
Wow origato!! how many Election related democrat bashing threads can you possibly start!! I can’t believe that you havent realized that Politicians lie sometimes!! Although I’m sure Bush never has. ever. really.
Yeah, Twisty . . . I just love how Republicans are perfect. None of them has ever made a mistake or lied to the American people or anything bad like those dogs the Dems, who I hear kick dogs for sport and tell girls named Virginia there’s no Santa Clause.
Pigs… If only they could be more Republican . . .
[hijack]If I hear ONE MORE PERSON saying how GWB went to an Ivy-league school and Gore flunked out of divinity school, I swear that person’s gonna get to see if there IS a divinity. ARGH! Stop using half-truths to make a joke. It’s NOT FUCKING FUNNY![/hijack]
Oh, that’s right, Gore is evil. He only won the election in everything but the Electoral Throwback to Paternalism, er, College. It’s just not fair that he doesn’t listen to polls anymore like we always wanted, and expects the law to be applied in his favor, the way anyone else would.
Well,
after watching the whole election thing, I really do not what to say except: what the fuck is going on people?
if we will have these kinds of scandals going on this country will fall apart in a couple of years.
Now, that’s a stupid idea if I’ve ever heard one. The idea of “democracy” has been around for several millenia already (since ancient Greece, at least). I think it’s pretty egotistical to think that a simple hiccup in the election process can immediately destroy the benefits of democracy everywhere, forever.
Now, democracy in America? Let’s look at a simple notion…
Since this whole Florida fiasco began several weeks ago, how many people have been killed because of it?
waterj2: Isn’t hypocrisy one of the most onerous forms of lying?
DITWD: No, I don’t believe GWB is innocent of lying. No one is. Even you. Asshole.
don Jaime: I am not a Quisling. That implies traitor. Fuck you for even suggesting it. The early polls said GWB would win the popular vote, but lose the electoral. Now the scenario is reversed. The Bush and Gore camps would be doing an exact reversal of roles if that was the case, I will admit. Sorry, but that is the rule and you have to accept it.
Alphagene: I don’t hate Democrats per se, I’ve had sex with many of them!
SPOOFE: I’ve waited a long time to respond to you! You rock! The tanks will be rolling Monday morning.
Well, if you ain’t a Norwegian major, then I am Beatrix of the Netherlands.
You have no respect for the law. Bush has scored a very thin win in Florida. Thanks to a badly managed voting system there, his right to it is highly questionable and must be proven. Gore is suing to guarantee this happens, or (preferably) that he himself won Gatorland. The same process has been going on elsewhere - Gore only just today was declared the true winner in New Mexico. But Florida is the deciding vote so we here Gore’s complaints more than Bush’s.
Yet you can’t seem to accept this. You moved into the Pit and had a near constant cow about how Gore is evil and Gore is cheating and Gore should piss off and Gore should give up and accept it and so on to the ends of the Earth. Nevermind that this is the legal process and wrangling lawyers will try every maneuver available and this takes time. Gore is bad and should go away, boo-hoo.
Your disrespect for Gore is tasteless, and your disrespect for the legal process goes beyond the respectable amount of dispect. So, yes, you are a traitor. Have a nice day, traitor.
And I’d offer an FU2U for suggesting I was the one that couldn’t accept this whole idea of having and using laws, but remember - you’re a traitor! You’re fucked anyway.
