Alan Parker has died aged 76

Just saw it in the news. I only got aware how versatile a director he was when I read the list of impressive and diverse films he made. I best know and love “The Commitments” , “Mississippi Burning” and “Angel Heart”, these three films alone show the big thematic scope of his work.

I liked Parker’s work a lot and you’re right he was able to be successful in many genres. I loved Bugsy Malone, but he directed an impressive list of films.

Pink Floyd The Wall was an outstanding film, as was Midnight Express. Excellent music in both films.

The Commitments is one of my all time favorite films.

Heck, I totally forgot that he directed The Wall too.

It’s the same for me. A film which is an ode to music and the people who make it.
