That’s by far the most common meaning of the word “revolver.” If you said “revolver” a record wouldn’t be the first thing I thought of.

It’s been suggested that it also indicates that the focus shifts from one Beatle to another next in each song, which is also implied in another proposed title, Four Sides to the Circle.

Agreed, but in the context of “the name of this new Beatles album” it was the first thing I thought of. Maybe because in 1966 I was first and foremost a record geek.

Interesting. I’d never heard/read about that. It might also have been an appropriate title for (what immediately came to be called) The White Album.
