Album titles with double meanings

Nope. Doesn’t work for me at all. And WHO isn’t familiar with the album cover?

It’s perfectly clear to me, as well as to others.

Of course, the album title Who’s Next carries multiple meanings and reveals the band’s humor, to include what I see as:

1. It’s announcing that it’s the band’s next album. Duh.

2. Who’s next to urinate on this ugly thing?

3. Who’s next to stand up, make yourself heard, be counted, and fight these injustices? (per my rambling theory)

Another:

The cover of Who’s Next is certainly memorable, and you can be forgiven for not knowing exactly what’s going on. But the joke is pretty simple - four guys just urinated on a giant concrete monolith, walking away as though to say “ok, so who’s next?”

ETA: Its their next album. I can’t believe they intended any other meaning.

Given the band’s creativity, I can’t imagine they didn’t have the second meaning in mind. The first meaning is too obvious to be the only one. Just because you don’t get it, doesn’t mean they didn’t get it.

Beatles - Rubber Soul

Don’t get it.

“Rubber soul” is a pun on rubber-soled shoes, and also refers to the fact that the Beatles weren’t playing authentic soul music, but “plastic soul.”

Barry Miles, co-author of Paul McCartney’s book “Many Years From Now,” claims it “was a reference to rubber-soled shoes as well as soul music.”

Paul himself, however, fully explains how the title came about. “I think the title ‘Rubber Soul’ came from a comment an old blues guy had said of Jagger. I’ve heard some out-takes of us doing ‘I’m Down’ (from June 14th, 1965) and at the front of it I’m chatting on about Mick. I’m saying how I’d just read about an old bloke in the States who said, ‘Mick Jagger, man. Well you know they’re good – but it’s plastic soul.’ So ‘plastic soul’ was the germ of the ‘Rubber Soul’ idea.” In fact, at the end of the first take of “I’m Down” the tape captures Paul exclaim, “Plastic soul, man, plastic soul!”

I may have got it if they spelt it “filet” instead of “fillet”, but maybe I’m alone in pronouncing those two differently (filet = fil-lay, fillet = fill-it).

Or I might have a different dialect and say fillet with a hard “T” at the end. Oh, I know “fill-eh” and say that too, but without context I read that as “fill-ett,” which is common in British and Canadian English.

Bachmann-Turner Overdrive’s Not Fragile. The cover art is a crate of durable gears and sprockets that won’t break easily, and it’s also kind of a statement that the musical content doesn’t sound like a Yes album.
