A couple of Michael Jackson albums.
Thriller - Exciting or Scary
Bad - Good or Bad
It’s perfectly clear to me, as well as to others.
Given the band’s creativity, I can’t imagine they didn’t have the second meaning in mind. The first meaning is too obvious to be the only one. Just because you don’t get it, doesn’t mean they didn’t get it.
Gotcha.
“Rubber soul” is a pun on rubber-soled shoes, and also refers to the fact that the Beatles weren’t playing authentic soul music, but “plastic soul.”
Metallica plays heavy metal. Get it now?
The Grateful Dead: Live/Dead, playing on the meanings of alive vs dead, and the fact that it was a live album by the Dead.
Thank you.
Not really. But that’s OK.
Thanks, Colibri.
Geez. Some people need a map, a blueprint, and a compass. Try pronouncing “Fillet Show” out loud. Do you think it might sound like “fellatio”?
If you need an explanation for fellatio, I suggest you google it.
I may have got it if they spelt it “filet” instead of “fillet”, but maybe I’m alone in pronouncing those two differently (filet = fil-lay, fillet = fill-it).
No one has yet mentioned Blink-182’s Take Off Your Pants and Jacket ?
Or I might have a different dialect and say fillet with a hard “T” at the end. Oh, I know “fill-eh” and say that too, but without context I read that as “fill-ett,” which is common in British and Canadian English.
ETA: Or what HowSoonIsThen said.
Match album cover with Robert Mapplethorpe photo of cum on album cover.
Exactly.
Gotta remember most Dopers don’t listen to anything that recent.
Nick Lowe returned the favor with an EP entitled “Bowi.”
Um, it’s a little more than that. The album cover picture is a mixture of semen and blood.
Bachmann-Turner Overdrive’s Not Fragile. The cover art is a crate of durable gears and sprockets that won’t break easily, and it’s also kind of a statement that the musical content doesn’t sound like a Yes album.
I forgot about the blood. It creeps me out looking at that cover.
