Albus Dumbledore was... (shocking news inside!!)

I don’t think it means what you think it means

it is known that ms rowling did say to the screenwriters of the movies that dumbledore is gay. there had to be a scene change due to her revelation.

Thanks for that; tis a great piece. (For those who didn’t read it, Gaiman is asked his opinion of an Atlantic Monthly piece in which Ross Douthat criticizes Rowling’s outing of Dumbledore and states that the most successful author in history has no confidence in her writing; he responds “All that tells us is Ross Douthat doesn’t write fiction”, then gives commentary on fiction in general with Sandman and his other works as examples.)

Unsurprisingly, Something Positive sums it up the best.

Calm down, Rubystreak. Cafe Society is meant for discussion of the arts, not for comments about other posters. Instructing others to “get a life” is best meant for the Pit and doesn’t need to be said in this forum.

Funny, but I was under the impression that all British headmasters were gay.

(Please don’t hit me. :()

It does? I sure don’t see that changes Dumbledore’s motives. As Arnold Winkelried points out, there’s not a lot of emotional distance between a spurned best friend and spurned lover.

What happened to Dumbledore at the end of the Harry Potter series?

He went pouf.

Well, at the very least, it throws the position of Head Boy into a whole new light.
