I recently bought a cheap smartphone, an Alcatel PIXI unite. Here are some specifications and my question:
1.3 GHz processor
1 GB RAM
8 GB internal storage
Slot for up to a 32 GB SD card
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Tracfone MVNO on T-Mobile network
My question is, if I put in an SD card, can I format it as adaptive storage, so that I basically have 40 GB total memory, with all of it treated the same as internal memory, or will there be the same limitations as on Lollipop, where apps can only be partially moved to the SD card, with the internal memory being limited to 8 GB? I realize the OS takes up at least half the internal memory, so 4 GB is realistically the available room on the internal memory.
TLDR version: Can I increase the total memory on my phone to include the internal and external storage as one contiguous memory on my model phone?
It depends. Some vendors, like Samsung, have disabled this functionality. If you have a choice when you format, you are good to go. Otherwise not. I have no experience with your particular phone.
