Here in Chicago I know for a fact that one liquor store will deliver anything you can find on its shelves. From half-barrels to 5ths to six-packs, if you have 45 minutes to wait for your booze, it will be there. For a fee of course.
As you are undoubtedly aware, every state has its own arcane rules and laws dealing with the sale of alcohol. I am certain that delivery of alcoholic beverages would be regulated quite carefully.
That being said, I went to college in Maine, and there was one pizza place that would deliver a six pack with your pizza and were rather lackadaisical about checking ID. Whether the delivery of beer was even legal in the first place was another issue. A final issue is that no one in the state of Maine knows how to make a decent pizza, and they probably never will. They should really stick to lobsters and “birdmen.”
You can get all you want if you order it on the Internet, they mail it to ya.
There’s a place in College Park, Maryland, (right next to the Univ. of Maryland) called “#1 Liquors” that delivers. Believe me, it’s a god-send for all lazy drunkards and those whose party is about to run dry. It used to be next door to a McDonald’s, so they would also hook you up with an Extra Value Meal or whatever else for just a small extra fee (the McDonald’s has recently re-located, so no more Big Macs with the booze). Only drawbacks: they carded, and weren’t allowed to deliver on-campus…
So it sounds like your business plan, though not novel, could rake in the dough if local laws allow – especially if you’re located near a college campus.
