Alert: The Blue Castle/The Ladies of Missalonghi Disscussion Thread to start 5/1

In this thread, the discussion turned to commentary on the two novels The Blue Castle (by L.M. Montgomery) and The Ladies of Missalonghi (by Colleen McCullough). The plots and certain other details of these books bear a remarkable similarity, and there is some thought that McCullough might have plaigerized Montgomery’s work. A few of us in the thread have now read both books, and were interested in starting a discussion comparing the two, but some others need some time to read one or both of the books before starting. So, I volunteered to start the discussion thread on May 1st. I thought it would be a good idea to give fair warning to any other Dopers who may be interested in participating. The books are relatively short/fast reads, and should probably be available in most local libraries. If your library doesn’t have The Blue Castle (it may be in the Young Adults section), here is a free online Project Gutenberg e-book (thanks to OtakuLoki for finding it!) The version linked to is HTML, but it is also available in .txt format.

Happy reading!

I’m going to bump this one time, just to see if I catch anyone who might be interested…

I may join. Depends if my library has the books.

StG

I’ll be there. I can’t find my copy of Ladies, but I’ll track one down before the 1rst, so I can do a more careful comparision.

Looking forward to it.

Dagnabbit, I really want to be in on this, and I’m going to be out of town without a computer for the next few days. So don’t rip it completely to shreds until I get back, huh? :smack:
