Alex, I'll take musicians and their instruments for $100

Does anyone know of a website that gives a list of rock musicians and the instruments they play? For example, when you see Eric Clapton, he’s usually wailing on a Fender Stratocaster. Neil Young almost always plays his Gibson Les Paul.

Attempts at Googling were unsuccessful.

That’s a very interesting question but most guitarists use multiple instruments while recording.

I doubt that there is a list out there but if you find one let me know.

Lots of players have a main guitar and “gearhead” type magazines usually have a box mentioning a guitarist’s standard setup. All I’ve been able to find so far is http://www.acousticguitar.com/gear.shtml which has a list of featured artists’ acoustic choices in fairly frightening detail. Poking around guitar sites looking for “gearbox” or “gearhead” would probably be the go.

Oh, man…There IS a website that I used to have bookmarked…It has graphics-based details of the instruments, pedals, and amps used by specific artists, and IIRC, they had a pretty big catalogue of bands. Each musician’s set-up was diplayed in a nice graphic flowchart kinda way…

I’ve spent the last fifteen minutes trying to find it, but the address is nowhere to be found on my hard drive and I’m taking a break from searching for it on yahoo/google/etc.

But now you’ve got me wantin’ to know, too!

If you find it before I do, let me know – this is gonna keep me up for days!

My husband is a musician, and I’m sure he’s got stuff like that bookmarked somewhere. Watch this space and I’ll get back to you.
