Every time I see a story like this, I smile. Crazy people with fucking batshit crazy beliefs should face consequences for spreading or acting on those batshit crazy beliefs.
Jones has been an absolute toxin on American discourse pretty much since he started doing his schtick. This man has spread the myth that the Sandy Hook shooting was a false flag, leading to harassment and death threats towards the parents whose children were murdered. His fraudulent health advice on his bullshit show has probably killed at least one or two people by now.
His site is like Breitbart but more toxic and insane - and that’s really saying something. It’s like a bizarre, twisted cross between Rense and FreeRepublic. A person willing to run a show like that, and hone a public persona like that has no fucking business raising children, any more than someone running the PR arm of a suicide cult has business raising children.
Good riddance. I hope this teaches him a lesson in not being a fucking horrible person, but somehow I doubt it. At least his kids are less likely to grow up indoctrinated into his fucking insanity.
I loved the part where he said that he ‘tests’ marijuana once a year to see how strong it is. :dubious: Sure Alex. It got even better when he blamed George Soros for making pot too strong. :smack:
One of his lawyers suggested this, yes. Jones himself made a couple of statements calling this into question. He could have made those to assuage his audience if it is just an act, or he could be really crazy. I subscribe to the “Mother Night” theory on him, which says if he has been pretending to be so nuts for so long it doesn’t matter what he “really” believes.
I don’t have anything to say about the merits of this particular case, but:
So the PC police can now decide that you’re an unfit parent because of your political beliefs? That’s a dangerous precedent, comparable to putting the children of political prisoners in orphanages.
This is good news.
It’s nice to get good news from time to time.
I wondered the opposite: if maybe his ratchetting up the loony was to convince the judge that it must be all an act, because no one could possibly fit that much bat shit in their head.
“PC police”? Police constable. . . police?
I think that a judge can decide against someone in a custody battle based on their aggressive demeanor, outlandish public behavior and apparently unstable mental condition. Is that a dangerous precedent?
Let’s say your political/scientific beliefs include:
The president of the united states is illegitimate
The US government is literally murdering its own citizens to drum up support for its policies
Cancer is generally caused by fungal infections and cured by baking soda - any “real medicine” is poison designed to make you an addict
I think it’s entirely reasonable to say, “If you’re that fucking crazy, you can’t keep custody of your kids”. We’re not talking about “I think taxes should be lower” or even “I don’t think we should have a government”. We’re talking, “I’m going to go up on live TV and scream for hours on end about how the government is out to get you, and Clinton is raping children right now, and the Sandy Hook shooting was executed by paid false flag actors.” It’s not about political beliefs. It’s about being fucking crazy. You might as well argue that someone who supports ISIS having their children taken away is having their children taken away for “political beliefs” - specifically, the belief that this is the new Caliphate and all must bow before it.
Up next: Jones and fellow loons and their supporters will use this decision to wail about Big Government taking kids away from great parents for political reasons. It could be a great marketing tool.
