I remember when Hugh Downs hosted “Concentration” way back in the 1960’s. (I remember Art Fleming and Don Pardo on the original “Jeopardy!”, too. Amazing that Pardo is still around and lives in the same town as me, too.)
There can be no other candidate than John (“Who are three people who have never been in my kitchen?”) Ratzenberger.
I’ve also heard Anderson Cooper’s name being bandied around as a replacement. Him I wouldn’t mind.
Is it a rule that EVERY game must have a question that requires Alex to pronounce a word in French? He’s so smug about that (and yes, I know he’s fluent in French. He’s just a showoff).
As a long time Jeopardy fan, I’ve given the matter some thought…I’d like to see Mike Rowe take over. He has the cred, the gravitas, and the brains. And I think he’s looking for work…except for doing Ford commercials.

BTW, if Matt Lauer hosts Jeopardy I will never watch again. It’s bad enough I have to put up with him every other year during the Olympics. A daily dose of Lauer would not be a good thing.
I misread the OP as “Matt LeBlanc” for some reason - I thought “What an inspired choice!”. Matt Lauer, not so much so. (LeBlanc really impressed me in Episodes.)
Oh man, Mike Rowe would be perfect. He’s a pretty smart guy (I remember him randomly quoting Shakespeare and talking about Greek myths on Dirty Jobs) but he’s not super smug. I think this needs to happen now.
That was what I heard a couple years ago. I would like to see him do the show. My fear is that Trebek is going to start taking time off to allow some of these potentials to try out on the show and see how the audience takes them.
Seriously, I think Rowe might be perfect for the job; just so you know, my “He seems to be very bright” comment was a dig at Trebek’s favorite patronizingly arrogant “compliment.”
Other than Ken Jennings, I would like to see them go for Pat Kiernan, who did a great job on the late, lamented World Series Of Pop Culture. Plus, he’s another Canadian!
