"Algore" - why is that funny?

Can someone please explain to me why connecting Al and Gore together into Algore is considered witty? The only thing I’ve heard is that Rush Limbaugh said it once, but I can’t see how that would make it funny, either. He never seemed particularly witty, to me. Constipated, yes, but not witty.

Weren’t the people that liked Limbaugh supposed to be “Dittoheads”? And how is that a positive thing? If I called my followers “sheep” or something, I think they’d be insulted, if they stopped to think about it…oh, wait…never mind.

I refer you to this thread.

I don’t fully get it either. I seriously doubt all those people actually knew the meaning of the word “algor.”

Well, if he is dancing then you have an algore-rhythm. (rim shot)

Huh - I thought it was because Leiberman always refers to him as “Al Gore” repeatedly. Kind of annoying after a while. “Al Gore and I…” this and “Al Gore and I…” that.

Thanks for the link, malden! Guess I’m not the only one…

No, you have the opposite of rhythm.

Play that funky music, white boy!

I refer you also to this thread…at least before it got MPSIMSy.
