I’ve been renting the Alias Season 1 DVDs from Netflix and just recently finished “Page 47” (Episode 15), but one question has stuck in my mind so far: How did the K-Directorate find out where the Rambaldi book was in “Time Will Tell” (Episode 8)? The location of the book (Mount Aconcagua) was only disclosed by Marshall connecting the sun glass disc and the Italian clock and turning it to the right time. Only SD-6 had this information, which has made me think that there is another mole in SD-6 apart from Syndey and Jack. However, nobody in SD-6 seems concerned that K-Directorate was able to show up at Mount Aconcagua without using the clock/glass combo or thinks that it’s odd that they showed up at all. And from what I’ve seen, J.J. Abrams usually has too good of control over the story to let something as blatent as that slip by.
Like I said, I’m only up to Episode 15 (have to wait for the next disc from Netflix), so maybe it’s addressed in later episodes. I’ve seen all of season two and don’t remeber much at all about K-Directorate during that season.
I’m not sure if it can be counted as a spoiler, but I can confirm that this was never addressed. Can revealing the absence of information be considered a spoiler? Overall, a minor overlook I think, considering how many concurrent storylines J.J. Abrams has going.
I was bothered by that too, but after a while you realize that unresolved plot items are par for the course in the show, and you grow to love the absurdity. At least I did. Personally, I was bored by the whole K-directorate and Anna Espinoza thing, so I was glad when they faded from the picture somewhat.
I rented and watched the entire season in 4 days. After that binge I had about 3 weeks of withdrawal. Now I can’t decide whether or not to spoil season 2 for myself by reading about it on the web so I can watch season 3 on tv, or just wait for season 2 on DVD in December.
Ultimately, I think you just have to chalk things up to the fact that these organizations are filled with superspies like Sydney so it’s not surprising when one of them figures something out. We just don’t have a camera in their office like we do in SD-6’s, so we don’t see how they did it.
Cliffy has a good point. If the CIA can manage to tap SD-6 computer communications (sure, they caught it eventually, but still,) then K-Directorate should have been able to do the same. They probably know Sydney’s aliases, tracked her plane ticket to Chile and deduced where she was headed.
I won’t spoil what happens to K-Directorate.
I would actually like to see Anna come back at some point, just because she was actually a match for Sydney’s abilities. Plus, I want an explanation for that “Eye of Rambaldi” tattoo on her hand.
