With the tech the Predators have, this was probably a trivial matter for them.
Not just the comic book(s), but the Aliens vs Predator: Prey book features this as well. The main character is also marked in this manner once she demonstrates her hunting prowess to the Predators and is accepted into their society.
It’s rated PG-13. 'Nuff said.
What?! Oh, that is just so fucking lame! I’d been holding out hope up 'til now, but… forget it, man. Aliens v. Predators, and it’s PG-13? Assholes. Idiot assholes.
I bet they can show Aliens and Predators being torn to pieces and still be PG-13. Probably, they just can’t show humans being ripped up.
I don’t recall Predator being all that gory and it still got an R rating. They’ll have to cut out any pig-stabbing in AVP.
Actually, now that I think about it, this might not be such a big deal. The MPAA is so institutionally fucked that I think most of the earlier Alien/Predator movies probably would have gotten PG-13s in todays movie market, because the MPAA doesn’t give a shit about violence, so long as there’s no nudity or bad language. So we can still get the ultraviolence, but we will be deprived of seeing the aliens and predators cursing each other out while having sex.
I can live with that.
• Blain getting hit in the chest with the Predator’s laser weapon-thing
• Mac getting shot in the head at close range; blood spills out of his head onto the camera
• Dillon’s arm getting shot off and continuing to shoot laying on the ground.
• Some standard R-rated fare during the raid on the base. (“Stick around.”)
Probably not enough for an R today, certainly enough in 1987. So maybe there’s hope yet. Plus, I don’t think the Aliens and Predators will be dropping F-bombs and pussy jokes on each other…

Bump: The movie’s premiere has been cancelled, as have its advance critics’ screenings. Not a good sign.
Actually, the first-and-worst sign was hiring Paul W.S. Anderson to write and direct the thing, but this is just the latest echoing bang of the hammer on the coffin lid.
There’s a fight scene posted on www.apple.com/trailers. It… doesn’t look good.
Paul W.S. Anderson could admit that the released clips and trailers are all he’s managed to film and the rest of it is a puppetshow with an alien whapping a predator Punch-and-Judy style, and I’d still go see it.
I will, however, buy a jumbo bucket of popcorn so I can throw handfuls at the screen during the credits.
Ok, what am I missing? I just watched both clips and they were great! Better than I expected. 1000 times better than anything in Alien 4 or Predator 1 and 2!

Watching that huge, merciless lizard-man thrash that alien against the walls, for the first time in my life I actually feel sorry for the things!
I like all of the Alien films (though felt the first two were the best of the bunch, obviously), but seeing the trailers for this movie…I am not enthused.
Frankly, if nothing else, because we know that the aliens are going to lose! If it’s on earth in the 21st century, there’s no other way it can come out. And the trailers just seem a bit…Hokey. There’s something about them that just screams “This movie is going to suck”. I hope I’m wrong.
I’d personally love to see an Alien movie where the Aliens manage to make it to Earth and completely take it over. Kind of like the Aliens comic book series a while back. I believe the issue in question was “Earth Hive”(though Nightmare Asylum was quite good too…too bad the conclusion just went way over the top)
I tried to play AVP and lost my nerve long before I got too far. Though AVP2 is a favorite of mine and is quite creepy at some parts. At least in the early parts of the game. The interlocking plotline for the three species was quite cool as well, where you actually have to play the game from all three viewpoints to get the entire plot.
My husband has announced that he wants to see this movie. I just checked it on RottenTomatoes, AND THERE IS NO RATING! It’s coming out tomorrow and they don’t have enough reviews for a rating! I am scared. Very, very scared. But not in the way the director wants me to be, I think.
