trailer2 Did not see this one, crappy internet connection…
What do you guys think? I’ve been waiting this movie for forever. The story seems really bad, although somewhat workable, the predators have been visiting earth for quite a while after all.

I was discussing this with my friend. The thing that bothered him was that-
“How can the Aliens be a ‘new’ creature in the film ‘Alien’ if they were discovered in present-day earth?”
My explanation-
The AvP films take place AFTER the predator films. The scientists that go to the pyramid work for what will eventually be the Wayland-Yutani corporation. My theory is that Wayland-Yutani knew about the Xenomorphs, all along, and very likely acquired spacefaring technology from the Yauja (predators) in the form of wreckage (since I can’t imagine the Yauja stooping to working out a ‘deal’ with some race they hunt for sport )
In this context, the film works. I am a little disappointed about the premise, but Freddy vs Jason was awesome, and I’ve been waiting for this film for a long time. It would have worked better with some of the earlier script ideas which called for a stranded colonist ‘joining’ the Yauja in fighting Xenomorphs, along with Predaliens, but this is okay I guess.
The scene in the trailer with the forsaken predators on top of the pyramid was awesome. Hundreds of Xenomorphs charging at a small party of Predators.
It’s made very clear from Aliens that athere are other non-human aliens in the universe (Arcturian poontang, and all that) though we aren’t introduced to them. There’s no reason to draw any special connection between Weyland-Yutani and the Predators just to explain technology.
It would make just as much sense to ask “How can the aliens be a new creature in the film Predator if they’ve been hunting humans on Earth for hundreds (thousands?) of years?”
I don’t have very high hopes for this film… neither franchise is in a terribly good position (Aliens was made in 1986. Predator 2 in 1990.) to make anyone feel the need to protect the history of what’s gone before… or really do anything other than show a bunch of guys in suits and CGI fighting with kooky stylized weapons.
