All My Bookmarks Are Gooooooooonnnneee!!!!!

This is a longshot but have you tried your recycle bin?

no good…

I’m tellin’ you–strips of colored paper!

In all fairness, when I read the thread title, I honestly thought of that type of “bookmark” first

Wipe yer arse with your little strips of colored paper!!
<grumble> ArchiveGuy probably still uses Sears Catalogs </grumble>

In defense of ArchiveGuy, I’ll confess that I thought you were talking about actual paper bookmarks, too, at first. I figured you had a collection. I mean, I’d be upset, too, if I had a fabulous collection of bookmarks with pictures of vintage aircraft, comic strips, and sci-fi art on them and suddenly they turned up missing… probably been collecting them since you were a kid… in a shoebox under the bed… :frowning:

I didn’t know what to make of the “porn” bookmark, though.

Bummer … you can have a copy of my bookmarks if it’ll help …

I feel your pain. I had something similar happen when my hard drive bit it. It was months before I remembered the last of my comics titles. You can’t Google if you don’t remember the name of the site. And forget about the other bookmarks.

Sadly, though, I didn’t open this thread to commisserate or to give advice. I opened it to count how many posts down I’d find

. . . and it was the second post. Second! I’m sure that says something, but I’m damned if I know what.

One more straw to grasp … if the file name got corrupted, so the search didn’t find it, try looking in C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\defaults\profile\ for any file that will pass as html

One more long shot:

Check for that bookmarks.html file in:

C:\Documents & Settings\Bosda\Application Data[Mozilla or Netscape][possibly a folder called ‘profiles’]\default[randomstring.slt]\

…if you’re on 2K or XP. I don’t have Windows here at home, otherwise I’d tell you for sure.

You may have to enable viewing system & hidden files from your [bosda] folder to see the Application Data folder. Otherwise, it might not show up when you just do a file search for the html file.

Let me know if that doesn’t make any sense.

…and that would be for 98/Me.

Shoulda previewed while I was wracking my brain…

There’s a certain bug in Firefox that involves your bookmarks.html file basically being erased. It’s still there, there’s just…nothing in it. (Happened to me twice, would you believe it?) No amount of telling the poor guy “Search for this-and-that” will bring the content of that file back.

Anyway, Bosda should be moving onto the Bargaining stage soon.

Oh shit, you use Netscape.
