People seem to have different values of who they want to have in the All Star Game. Do you want to see the biggest stars of the game? The players having the best year so far? Do you put a larger consideration for players from your preferred team? Here’s a hypothetical (these guys all play the same position in the same league:
- The Great Slambino: He’s a 36 year veteran who is having another amazing season. This sure-fire Hall of Famer plays for your local team, the Hometown Nine. The day you cast your vote, he’s been put on the 10-day Injured List, and will certainly miss the ASG.
- Scrubs McKenzie: This 29 year old has never been an All Star, because he is the very definition of an average player. However, he’s had an absolutely unbelievable first half by any measure. He’s 4th in the league in HR and is hitting .350. He pulled off a defensive miracle - he turned an unassisted triple play while catching a baby that fell from the upper deck!
- Fernando Terrifico: He’s another perennial All Star, but he’s having a down year. He hasn’t been hurt, but just hasn’t put it together yet. He’s the type of player you’d make sure you attend the local Nine’s game if Fernando was in town, just to be able to say you saw him play in person.
- The Colonel: He’s the oldest player in the league, and is an absolute legend. He’s only being used as a prop at this point to sell tickets, but he’s beloved by one and all. He looks like he might break a hip coming out of the dugout.
