California must be the most rule crazy place in the world. Not just because they have so many, but they enforce them so rigidly (speeding the only exception). I visited a buddy 2 years ago and was quite surprised. There was a lesbian bar by his apt. in Long Beach. We went there because you don’t dare deal with DUI checkpoints, even if sober. In the men’s restroom there was a long list of dont’s. Mostly common sense, don’t make the ladies uncomfortable stuff. I have never seen rules posted in a public restroom for customers. Jaywalking is strictly enforced.
All states have rules that if they strictly enforced would make citizens upset, but in most of these places there would be such public outcry and civil disobedience that it would quickly be halted. Imagine everybody requesting a jury trial for every minor infraction. That is how frivolous laws get stopped. But in California people don’t seem to mind. My friend says it goes back to the great depression when California was flooded with vagrants.
