I disagree. The early stages of Trump’s deportations are very much comparable to the early stages of what became the holocaust. The thread title is a reminder of what happened before, and of what could happen again.
Not from where I sit. I’m half German. Dad was born in a small town on the Rhine in 1929. He and his kid sister and parents got out 6 weeks before the Kristallnacht. Plenty of my family did NOT.

How hopeful that we might view the Holocaust as a nasty little specimen from the long-dead past preserved in amber, or like the Spanish flu in a chunk of a dead doughboy’s lung encased in paraffin wax. Unfortunately the virus is still mutating and flaring up.
