It seemed to me that 3 actors from the 70s were almost typecast: Robby Benson played a mentally challenged youth several times, Hal Holbrook played a gay guy several times back when it raised eyebrows, and Martin Sheen was in a couple made for tv movies wherein he was a misunderstood drifter met with hostility by the locals. Who else was almost typecast?
eta; I may be misremembering, of course.
Bruce Willis as a cop. He’s played other types of characters successfully, but I always think of him as a cop.
William Devane was almost-typecast as the President of the United States; he played John F. Kennedy in The Missiles of October (1974), and played fictional presidents in Stargate SG-1, The Dark Knight Rises, and 24: Live Another Day.
This guy
played an obsessed conspiracy theorist with a JFK assassination museum in Angel in 2003, and a few years later played an obsessed conspiracy theorist with a museum devoted to a Bruce Lee type actor in 2005 on Monk.
