I got 110, top end of the middle range. So I’m happy. Which Aussie Doper got the highest? (And lowest?)
- Which pretty much confirmed previous, more formal tests, and probably makes me pretty average round these here parts.
What’s with the “National IQ” test? Seems fairly pointless to me, I’d think.
It was a live television event beamed across Australia, where participants at home could take the test as the questions were read out.
So its like those internet IQ tests, kind of? I’ve never taken a formal one. Didn’t care that much. I average about 160 on various internet types.
Right, but everyone who sat the Australian National IQ test took the same test. So please… can we keep it to those participants only.
Ah! Thank you for the explanation.
I got 67/76, which equated to 135… so I’m ecstatic! My parents were 110 and 115, so I suppose they’re not as stupid as I thought
I thought they stretched it out a lot, and I noticed that near the end they were marking four sections per ad break instead of two… and it still ran fortyish minutes over…
D’uh. What was the question again?
I didn’t know it was on.
I’m pretty skeptical of IQ tests though. IQ comes in many different flavours, and it’s hard to pin down to a set of correct answers in a test. [sub]That’s my excuse, and I’m stickin’ to it.[/sub]
I repeat what I said over at the G’Dope board I got home late and had to feed both the cats and the dog without starting WW3.
Who woulda thought the durn animals would get so stressed out about dinner being an hour or two late.
I’m kinda embarressed, I had no idea there was one till my girlfriend told me about it this morning. She got 111.
I knew about it, but could nae be arsed.
My elitist bastard friends at law school had a competition, however. I think the winner topped over 145. Graduate ball this Friday so she’s buying the shots.
Didn’t actually do the test - kept getting bored and watching other stuff.
Might do the test online later - it’s on the ninemsn website.
However, I think I must be at a genetic disadvantage - I’m blonde and my mum was born in New Zealand, and I’m from Victoria - pretty well the bottom of all the groups.
Ok so i was getting mildly interested in what all the fuss was about and thought I would look up the Nine MSN website and do the test.
First you have to register which I can understand but why do they need all of the following detail
Home Phone
Sex
Eye Colour
Hair Colour
Which football code do you follow
Which hand do you write with
Do you smoke
Do you wear glasses
Height range
Star sign
Food preference
When you consume alcohol, what do you prefer
This was all information I must complete before I could take the test.
I ain’t giving any marketing company my home phone number they can just sod off.
Just for the record I don’t follow any type of football code but the option wasn’t given “Don’t follow footy” Nooooo you had to choose between AFL, League, Union and Soccer.
Grrrrr
I didn’t know about it. I agree with what TLD said, and I’m sticking to it too
I’m off to check out the website. Psst Leechbabe : put the phone number for your last address in there
Well between my sister, my boyfriend and me, we were able to get pretty much all the questions right. The memory questions are particularly easy when there are three people working on it.
I did it with my brother. We haven’t got the results yet cos we missed some of them when they were broadcast. And we skipped the maths ones cos we couldn’t be bothered working them out.
I thought some of the language answers were a bit off!
As a general rule, IQ tests are great for a) predicting how you’ll go the next time you take an IQ test or b) having fun stirring your friends. That’s about it, really.
All it would have taken is a little more padding and it would have been the length of the average telethon. I didn’t get too bored, but then I enjoy that sort of thing (the puzzle/mental side of it, not the sight of Eddie and Catriona being twerps for three hours on end, that is).
I’m in the ‘stirring your friends’ category and I got 142.
My 60+ mother got 110.
The 10 year old got 100 (although she shouldn’t have really done it).
The SO will do it when she gets a chance to play the tape and avoid the annoyances.
I don’t believe this is accurate, but I think it could give you an indication, but when it comes to ‘stirring the friends’, I’m going to take it as gospel (unless they got 151+ in which case they are full of it).
