I want to write. It’s what I’ve always been good at. I’ve had my teachers actually shake me in attempts to get me to change my major to writing.
Since I graduated from college, I no longer have the creative outlet of writing poignant essays on obscure topics of film studies. So instead, as a reasonable substitute, I’ve been keeping an online journal.
I’ve never been good with fiction- just essays and poetry. So I’ve been trying to improve myself. I’ve tried to craft these entries into little narratives, trying to work on structure and trying to improve on the flaws I know I have (such as lapseing into lame superlatives like “amazing” or “exciting” over and over again). So while these arn’t perfectly crafted fictions, I hope they are a little more than your average journal entries.
My journal is at http://evensvenlandia.blogspot.com
I’m looking for some critique, particularly on structure. I know I’m pretty bad at tieing things up. Any ideas? What parts stand out to you? What do I do that is really annoying (besides spell poorly, which can’t be helped)? If you are feeling really ambitious, there are a few months worth of archives that you’ll probably need to maximize the window to get links to. I mostly just want to know how I’m doing and where I could be headed. If anyone else wants some critique on any sort of writing, I’ll gladly share my opinion as well.
