ALTA/ACSM Surveys

OK, can someone please give me a quick overview of Table A to the minimum standards for ALTA/ACSM surveys or direct me to a website that does more than just restate Table A? I mean, I can read Table A but I don’t understand why all of the items are optional, such as the vicinity map, parking areas, indication of public access and more than just observed evidence of utilities. Is it so that the standards are as broad as possible and then if you’re dealing with developed property you would request those items as a matter of course?

This isn’t for a test or anything like that. It’s so I can talk semi-intelligently with my psychopathic boss on Monday.

Also, what is “rectified orthophotography” and “photogrammetric mapping”?

Thanks,
KSO

hmmm–a day old question, with no answers from the Dope…

try posting your question with the good folks at:
http://www.i-boards.com/bnp/pob/

its a forum for professional land surveyors (divided into areas of interest, some technical, some general.)try posting in the “strictly surveying” section.

the only part of your question I can answer is that “photogrammetic mapping” just means mapping based on aerial photography (i.e. not measurements made on the ground)
