alternate source for hereditary info [birth parents]?

What other official documents identify the genetic parents of a child?

an article about a same-sex couple suing to have both their names on the birth certificate got me wondering about this. how would the child of such a couple go about finding whose genes (and this medical traits/tendencies) they share?

Title edited to clarify question.

Often fertility clinics identify donors according to a code number.

There is a privately run website, the Donor Sibling Registry, where a child born my AI could search for others who were conceived using sperm from the same donor. Just search by the donor’s code number.

And some donors also join the DSR and are open to share medical backgrounds.
But as for public records… normally there aren’t any. Some states so require DNA testing of potential fathers if a single mother applies for state assistance. That could form an official state record establishing a genetic relationship.
