Yeah, if I’m being honest with myself, this is where I am. I understand that other people find them awful, and I understand the pet situation and all that, and were I a benevolent dictator, I’d find some other way to celebrate (drones are a great compromise, IMHO.) But, for me – yeah. I love them. I love the feeling of community they bring; I love the bangs and the light show spectacle; I love the smell of sulphur in the air; I love watching my kids loving the whole extravaganza. shrug That’s how I feel. And, yes, I know many if not most people don’t feel that way. Doesn’t stop the way that I feel.
It is, hand’s down, the greatest scene in cinematic history.
Which is what my idiot neighbors were doing. During the beginning stage of an f’n drought. I was more worried that they’d set someone’s house on fire which happened elsewhere this week, than bothered by the very loud noise, though.
Eight days ago, someone shot and killed a cop in our small rural community. It seems as though all the local yahoos figured out that Law Enforcement might not have a good sense of humor about illegal fireworks out here because I haven’t heard a single bang.
This just means the local yocals will store their illegal fireworks until later in the fire season but it has been very quiet here.
