Somehow I’ve never heard of this, but it is rather amusing. It raises questions, like what the hell did that guy do to piss off his GF that bad? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, indeed.

Too bad I didn’t come up with “The unexplained phenomenon variant” blurb when I sold my copies of X-Men 94 and Giant Sized X-Men 1. The covers looked like somebody had taken something hard and scratched them as hard as they could. The weird part is I was the only one who ever even looked at them!
Oh, absolutely! I didn’t mean to imply otherwise but looking back I can see why my post could be interpreted that way. I’m assuming he did something but it could’ve been something innocuous like using the last of the hazelnut coffee creamer or chewing too loudly. Or it could’ve been an imagined slight I suppose. Still, when I look at that comic there’s clearly a story around the defacement and I’m curious what it is.
