Amazon having site problems?

I just noticed this about 30 minutes ago. Apparently none of the product pages can be reached, I just get an “oops” error message. Other functions seem fine.

And as soon as I post it, it gets fixed. Never mind.

Now the problem is back again.

It seems to have to do mostly with books.

They still sell books?

I’m having trouble getting into my business account, but technical difficulties are often the order of the day around here, so I think nothing of it.

Possible but not probable related circumstance. I’ve had 3 shipments from amazon in the last 3 weeks go “missing” in transit. Not the “oh, someone poached it for themselves” or porch-pirate, just getting to a local or semi-local distribution center and then falling off their own tracking system. Of course, with it promising delivery the next day every time as just “delayed”. Last night I took their poor customer service team to task over it and won.

But if they’re having intermittent issues with their own webhosting / network / etc, it could contribute to both. Still darn unlikely, but I felt I’d mention it.

This is a good site to check for such problems:

Yes, there are a lot of problems reported in the last 2 hours.

I had some minor issues with the items in my cart (not books) but nothing significant.

Thanks for the link.

I used this one to report/research issues.

Straight Dope got the scoop this time.

I see some speculation that this might have to do with an Amazon data center in Bahrain coming under fire from Iran.

That’s as far as I can go with what I want to say, if we assume this is now a breaking news thread.

Yup, I found I couldn’t get to my own author or book pages.

Ya think maybe?

I came in here specifically to mention this as I have heard about it on the news. I’ll drop a link to a current news story for anyone who may be curious. No way to know currently if it’s actually connected or not.

I noticed some downages about an hour ago for B&H (bhphotovideo.com). It seemed to be limited to the USA only; Asia & Europe were OK, according to onlineornot.com. That site gives more info than isitdownrightnow.com and downdetector.com. B&H may be observing the Sabbath a little early in the day.

An online retailer having temporary technical difficulties seriously stretches the definition of breaking news.

I gotta a couple things I expected to be delivered today have “sorry delayed" notes.

I have a thing I ordered awhile ago that has just disappeared. I asked customer service AI. They just refunded my card 15 minutes ago.

Something ain’t right.

(No, not breaking news in the big picture of real breaking news we have now)

Not very much, if it starts bleeding into geo-political news. In any case, the issues seem to have been resolved, as far as I can tell.
