Amazon Music

Today I bought a mp3 album off of Amazon, and they sent it as a win-zip file. It’s been a while since I bought music from there so I ask: is that the new normal? AFAIK, I’d have to download software to open it. It used to be so easy buying there.

How else would you expect to download it? Isn’t it fairly common for multiple files (from any source) to be downloaded in a zipped folder?

It used to go straight to MyMusic.

Unless it’s changed recently, whenever you buy an mp3 album, it gets added to your music collection (is that what you mean by MyMusic?), where you can either stream it or download it from the Amazon Music website or app.

From a bit of experimentation I’ve done, it appears that when I download an album using the website/browser, it’s downloaded as a zipped folder, but when I download it using the Amazon Music app (on my Windows 10 computer), it’s not zipped—the mp3 files are just in a folder.

If you are using Windows Vista or later, just right click the zipped file and click on “extract all” and the rest is magic. No need to download any software.

Why would you need to download software? Just click it and extract the files.

I was tempted to ask Son of a Rich what operating system (or type of device) he was using. Are there some that don’t have built-in capabilities for dealing with zipped files/folders?
