And they sure are 100% lying about this too. Bastards. I sat here for hours because I really needed the two products I was having delivered.
I wonder if they will come tomorrow.

I was at my mother’s house and we were expecting a package. I checked the tracking on the computer at about 10:00 am and it said that they attempted delivery at something like 7:00 am!
I went outside and I happened to see the carrier’s truck go down the street and stop about two blocks away. I ran after him. He told me that he hadn’t even bothered to take the package with him. He just scanned it at the post office and prepared the yellow slips before leaving. He said he didn’t bother bringing the packages out because people in that area have locked lobbies and they don’t answer the door bell.
So he gave me the yellow slip (he hadn’t even been to my mother’s building yet) and I drove to the post office to pick it up. I asked to talk to the carrier supervisor and he was very nice. He told me he had already received a couple of phone calls with similar complaints. He promised to talk to the carrier. I don’t know if he did, but it hasn’t happened since then.
If it’s some lazy carrier falsifying records, don’t let it go. Call your local post office or carrier station (not the 800 number) or go down there and ask to speak to the carrier supervisor. Calling amazon may get you a freebie or something, but it won’t address the problem for next time. Speak (politely) with the carrier supervisor at your local post office.
It’s really kind of genius on their part; the “free” 2 day shipping usually comes on the second day, but when it doesn’t, there’s no refund or much recourse. So they do their best, but there’s little to no penalty to them if they fumble every now and then.
If you pay the extra $4 or whatever for overnight, they’ll refund that if it doesn’t show up on time (been there, had that done).
Screwing with the delivery of mail can carry some ugly jail time, intentional fabrication/falsifying of delivery attempts should probably carry similar penalties…
I filed an online complaint with the Inspector General because it’s supposed to be much better than just calling and filing a complaint, but going down and speaking with the carrier supervisor is a really good idea, even if I have to take an hour off work to do it.
I’m really pissed because I can’t schedule a redelivery online either, so I had to place an entire new order and have it shipped to my office and with the Holiday I won’t get it until Thursday or Friday.
There used to be something called “Special Delivery,” which for all I know may still exist, but if you were willing to pay for it, you letter got hand carried through the process, and never sat anywhere as part of a batch, and then got brought to you as soon as it arrived in town (maybe not in the middle of the night, I don’t know). I was babysitting once, and the family got a Special Delivery letter. Apparently, it was from an out of the country relative who found it cheaper than long distance, a lot faster than airmail, and she was a little quirky.
I once got a toy that was defective, and wrote to the company (I was about eight) in my own handwriting, although my mother helped my compose it. The company sent me a replacement by Special Delivery.
That’s the totality of my experience with it. But stuff came any time of day, on Sundays, and it wouldn’t be your regular mailman who brought it.
Can’t you just fill out the hold mail form and tell them you will pick up at the post office. I do this every time I go on vacation and it is no problem. I believe it can all be done on-line now and you could get it by Wed without paying for it again.
I called and spoke with the carrier supervisor. He wasn’t a lot of help. He’s going to “check and see who was working on Sunday”. I even pointed out that there was no “missed you” slip on the door. He says they can’t forward it to another address but they can redeliver it on Saturday or mark it refused and send it back.
My address was perfect. I order from Amazon all the time as a Prime member and my addresses are stored.
They don’t leave packages on doorsteps here. Inside a small building, sure, but not on a doorstep and they obviously need to be let in first. The carrier never came.
I’ve had no fewer than 3 items over the past month or so not come on time. All of them were ordered on a Thursday or Friday and we paid extra for overnight rather than 2-day delivery.
One was shipped, but not in time for overnight; I expected it on Saturday, it came on Monday, which was no good because I needed to use it on Saturday. I’d even paid about $10 more for the item because I wanted it to be shipped with Prime (in other words, other sellers offered it for $10 less but didn’t offer overnight shipping.)
Two other items were not even received by the shipper; the Amazon status said they were going to be delivered on time, but if you went to FedEx/UPS, it indicated they hadn’t received the items at all.
I’m pretty pissed at this point. I have no confidence that if I order something with my Prime membership and choose overnight shipping that it will get here. They did make good on the first item, giving it to me for free, but I also had to go without it on the day I needed it. I would have rather had it on time.
