I accidentally ordered an item twice.om Amazon. I went ahead and used both items. Now they are pestering me to return the second item And I obviously can’t. The robots can’t understand and I can’t seem to reach a human. Been all through their website. What to do.
Did you pay for the second item, and if you did, why would Amazon want you to send it back?
May I hijack the thread?
Ordered a fountain pen over a week ago and it is due to arrive today. Hasn’t even been shipped. Tried to cancel - they refuse since the order is being processed. Had to use the text box customer service. A bunch of apologies for the delay but no answers. Finally got them to admit that there were none at the fulfillment center. So I asked for them to respect my request and cancel the order. The refused saying it will come from a different center.
At this point I don’t think they would let me cancel if the product didn’t exist.
I’ve gone through this type of thing many times when trying to request a refund when I’ve received an incorrect or damaged food item (bot: “Food items cannot be returned. Have a nice day!”) 'Round and 'round you go with the bots. The only way out of it is to talk with or message a human. Of course Amazon doesn’t want you to do that, so they make it very difficult to do. But every time I’ve done that, my issue has been promptly resolved to my complete satisfaction. Wish I could just give you a link, but I don’t have one. And how I get to human/human interaction does vary depending on the issue. But it can be done.
But as dolphinboy asks, did you state you wanted to return it before you used it? Is that the issue? Can’t you just pay? Amazon will always gladly accept your money.
I have had moderate success calling them by phone. I think the last time I did this was a couple years ago so not sure how that particular mode of communication is currently working.
I’ve never had a problem reaching one at 1-888-280-4331 (in the US).
They’ve fixed problems for me every time.
This thread looks like a better fit for IMHO. Moving.
Yeah, I am pretty experienced with Amazon Customer service, and i do not understand the problem. ??
FWIW with Amazon’s chat bots, if you keep typing “Customer service” at each prompt, the robot will eventually give up and hand you off to someone.
Here’s a recent interaction of mine.
And then I got a real person.
But, IME, you have to do it at each prompt. Don’t give up just because it said “you need customer service, is that correct?” If you say yes, it’ll likely start the process over with the bot.
Same with when you call in. If the auto-logic doesn’t work for your needs, just starting saying “talk to human” and you’ll get connected.
A lot of times I’ll just mumble nonsense until it says “I’m having a hard time understanding you” and puts a human on the phone.
LOL…that’s a good way to do it as well.
I just called that number and told the robot " talk to human! " one time…and I had a human on the line in one minute. I said it real loud so I’m thinking that helped
Problem is resolved. Thank you all.
I’ve found Rufus, the AI thingy, to be very helpful.
I’ve went round and round about an item that was deemed “undeliverable”.
I told them straight-up to refund it. I was not paying for something they can’t get to me.
It was a $7 oil sprayer for the kitchen.
I got message after message how it was “undeliverable”. I just ignored it.
They still refunded my card.
2 weeks later there was a package on my gate. With an apology note from UPS how the package was misplaced in a truck.
So I got the oil sprayer anyway.
I thought for about 3 minutes I should return it. Nah.
I have found Amazon Canada helpful and responsive when making a rare complaint. But it’s not like I talked to someone in person.
I bought a “kettlebell handle”, a stick that inserts into the middle holes of a gym weight with an easy-grasp curved loop handle on the top and a bottom collar to hold the weights in place. Thing was supposed to hold 500 pounds, but it collapsed into pieces when I put 225 pounds of weight on it; the very first time that I used it. Amazon accepted the return, paid for postage, and repaid me promptly so I could get something more solid.
But that’s not quite the same conundrum.
