AMC - American Movie CRAP! (lame, I'm sure)

Does TCM do well? I hope so.

Thank you for all of your responses!

I have Comcast of NW NJ. The last time I inquired about TCM (late last year), they did not offer it any form - premium package or otherwise. I would have NO problem paying whatever blackma…ranso…uh fee they would charge if they would actually OFFER it!

I like the voice suggestion - I think tomorrow I’ll be Franklin Pangborn!

VCNJ~

Yet ANOTHER problem Tivo solves!

Tivo. Is there anything that you can’t do?

I’m almost afraid to ask, but what were the other two?

One was Death Warrant, don’t know about the other one. We were watching it during commercial breaks from the basketball game, because it was so comically bad.

hard target IIRC

Last night was one of those times, with the well-done Imaginary Witness: Hollywood and the Holocaust. I was pleasantly surprised to see several films mentioned that I would’ve ordinarily expected to get overlooked, and the approach to the material was balanced, well-researched, and interestingly presented. And 90 minutes with no commercials!

Unfortunately, this is more the exception than the rule. I’ll argue that AMC does show more good movies than people give it credit for, but the editing and commercials are genuine drawbacks, and the good movies often get programmed over and over and over and over… Sigh. :frowning:

AFAIK, they’ve dropped the “Classic” moniker and are now the “American Movie Channel”. A brief flit through their website indicates that they tend to avoid spelling out the words, much like KFC.

To the OP: Before you think that TCM is a safe haven, consider this: While still definitely much better than AMC, I’ve caught them showing Elvis movies. The thin edge of the wedge, I tell you!

This POS of a cable station is owned by Long Island’s favorite Cable company,
Cablevision.

I’m shocked that ComCast even carries them (unless of course they give it away for free). Since TCM competes with them and they probably have a fee, gues what free shit gets a channel slot?

I hate that Cable service providers are legally allowed to provide cable content.
What a fucking conflict of interest.

They have the nerve to call us monthly begging us to take their overpriced iO service that supposedly competes with satellite.

So I ask them each time: Do you have TCM? NO. Do you have BBC America? NO.

300 channels and you have room for all those shit HSN channels but no TCM or BBC?

Sorry to semi-hijack but your pitting of AMC is really a pitting of Cablevision and its policies.
