What the hell has happened to AMC? (WARNING: Trivial)

AMC (American Movie Classics) used to be one of my main reasons for even having cable tv. I love old movies, and you could count on them being shown on AMC without interruption. Well, that’s changed. At first they had no commercials. Then they started showing a few ads between the movies. I didn’t mind that… but now they’ve started interrupting the movie and showing commercials! If I wanted to watch old movies interrupted by commercials, I could watch any of a number of other channels. In other words, AMC is giving up what used to make it different. What the hell are they thinking about?

This can only bode well for TCM (Turner Classic Movies), which is still showing films without interruption.

TCM is far superior to AMC and has been for a long time. They have a much bigger library, so they don’t show the same movie three times in one day. They don’t show the Three Stooges all the fucking time. They don’t have “American Pop”. And they can keep a host. Robert Osborne is great. AMC had that Gene guy and then Bob Dorian and Nick Clooney, and then that bastard who said that Alan Arkin can’t act, and now they have some guy with a very sad beard. AMC is responsible for exposing me to classic movies at a very young age, and I thank them, but TCM is a much classier act.

Plus, they don’t have Ted Turner’s money.

I was hoping this thread was about Ramblers.

Oh well…someday perhaps.

I loved the push button automatic.

Love it. But I really think you mean Nash, not AMC.
Seriously, American Movie Classics got me started too. I even subscribed to their mag at first, then it go so thin I could hartly find it, so dropped the sub. I watch TMC now also, and I dig Robert Osborne, but Meathead bores the shit outa me. His so superior attitude, I guess. I dug his dad, Carl Reiner, but never could stomach (no pun intended) the son. Loved it when Ol’ Arch slammed him.

TCM just looks old fashioned, like the diner logo and the hood, and the 30’s look of the theme.

H’wood only makes about 1 movie a year that’s fit to watch, and the wife usually wants to go out to it.

Nope. It was an AMC Rambler…and it was pink for God’s sake. It was my grandfathers.

Did you even read your link?

AMC Rambler

Gee, with the trivial warning I was sure this was going to be about All my Children.

As for the OP: AMC is putting in commercials now? Man, have things changed :frowning:

I used to have an AMC pacer. I loved that car. Oh, and Plymouth made a pushbutton tranny car for a while.
