I don’t even know if I bothered to mark that race on the ballot. I probably did, but out of habit–who cares about it, except for a few pitiful Republicans desperate to twist some stats to make a cheap shot?
And yeah, although the vote went exactly the way I expected it to, I wish I could think better of my fellow North Carolinians.
There’s no rule against theoretical insults, but if you want to rant and say you hope hypothetical people come to harm, please do it in the Pit.
You’re in the correct forum. I was asking if you had anything to say beyond stating the election result, which anyone can see on TV or on the net. Further comment from you might make the OP sound less like a taunt to some people.
I keep telling myself that in 25 years, finding someone who will own having voted for a state anti-marriage-equality amendment will be as hard as finding someone who would own having cheered on the threatening snipers who wanted to pick off James Meredith on his first day at Ole Miss was in 1985.
I was just pointing out that 20% of those voting in the Dem primary took the time to select No Preference instead of selecting Obama. Seems a bit odd to me
There are around 2.7 million registered Democrats in North Carolina, and about a third of them voted tonight. Around 20 percent of that third voted ‘No Preference.’ A low-turnout election like that can produce weird results.
Meh, people’s dicks get all hard over poll results that make them happy, but honestly nothing that happens between now and October 1st or so matters, because most people have the attention spans of mayflies on meth.
I think this is the first time you actually remind me of your dad.
(Not that I think gonzomax is homophobic (the sissy poodle thread notwithstanding), but it’s just the first time I’ve seen you post something that made me go “WTF?” like he so often did.)
I’m not ready to condemn the whole state. It might well be that they are split roughly 50-50 on gay marriage, just like the rest of the US. The trouble is, a much larger percentage of those opposed to gay rights come out and vote compared to those in favor. This is something the Republicans have known for years, recall in 2004 the anti-gay measure put on the November ballot allowed Bush to get close enough to steal the election. Yes, the anti-gay bigots are on the wrong side of history. Put this on the 2024 ballot and I think (and hope) that the results will be different. But right now as it stands, the anti-gay bigots are much more motivated to come out to the polls and until the good-minded people can match their enthusiasm, this is what you’re going to get.
My position is evolving. I apologize if the OP seems like a taunt. The only thing I am taunting is posters on this board that just can’t fathom that there are two sides to this issue, without resort to insults to one side.
