Short version- the ICE denies it. They also deny ants and roaches and mold in the food, turning off the water of people who were on hunger strike, not responding properly to signs of Covid 19 and other things.
And don’t get them started on “Happy Holidays !”
Given the population of people in ICE detention these days, at least some of these women are likely indigenous Mayan women from Guatemala, who likely have little to no Spanish fluency. I’ve had some as clients. Communicating with them can be a challenge even for a fluent Spanish speaker, and I doubt ICE has been trying very hard to communicate. Even if they could find interpreters in the appropriate indigenous languages, which isn’t a given even if you are legitimately trying. And even if you can get an interpreter in the appropriate indigenous language, good luck getting true informed consent from a woman who has had a year or two of formal education at best (with zero health or reproductive education) and is from a village where, if you’re lucky, the nearest clinic which is maybe staffed by a nurse once a month or the nearest pharmacy are several hours away on foot through the jungle.

I have not read every comment in this thread…but what I have not seen is the sterilization of men, which is far simpler, and the number of children a man can father in the nine months it takes a woman to produce one, would surely show the much better logic in sterilizing men. So why is it women who are sterilized?
Probably because the deranged doctor that was performing these extra hysterectomies was a gynecologist.

That, and it seems like from the article like it was more that this guy was doing hysterectomies as questionable treatment for gynecological issues, which is fundamentally different than rounding up healthy women or men and doing the same thing.
That’s why I’m still leaning toward the greedy doctor who knows there’s little review or advocacy on the part of ICE patients. It’s like the perfect crime- rather than just bill for something minor, or prescribe something, he can say “Oh, she needs a hysterectomy” and then proceed to bill LaSalle and/or the government for it, knowing that the women don’t have a voice, and that the LaSalle and ICE people probably don’t give a shit.
That’s a far, far more logical and likely chain of events than some shadowy Trump minions sending secret memos saying “IF you have one of these women in for treatment, make sure and remove her uterus. We’ll pay for it.”
This doesn’t make sense. If you want to reduce a population (which I highly doubt is going on here), it’s more effective to target the females than the males. That’s because a male can impregnate more than one female over a short time interval. We see this in hunting regulations. If there is an over-population of deer, for example, the bag limit for does will be greater than the bag limit for bucks.
Right, but it is easier to replace that man than that woman, reproductively speaking.
Say you have 50 men, and 50 women.
You sterilize 49 men, none of the women.
All 50 women can now give birth from the one guy.
For every woman that you sterilize, you decrease the number that can give birth.

You just made my point…by sterilizing one male you prevent the impregnation of a large number of females and reduce the possible number of offspring. By sterilizing one female, you only can prevent a birth about once a year. I think it’s one of those things where males are in charge and it reminds me of my friend who refused to neuter his cat because “I’m not going to cut his balls off!” and I kept saying “It’s not YOUR balls but his, and he won’t know the difference except he won’t be getting in these horrible fights with other males over a female in heat.” (And his cat died from injuries in one of those fights, too.)
This is incorrect. For animals such as deer, the females that would have been impregnated by the (now) dead or sterilized male will simply be impregnated by another (non sterilized) male.
Guns and bibles augment the two pillars, they can find all kinds of justification for their vile thoughts in the magic book and the guns make them feel safe from the brown people.
