American Idol: 1/25: CAN YOU DIG IT?

I taped it and am just now watching it, except my cats unplugged the TV for a little while so I may have missed some.

Comments on what I’ve seen so far.

Michaela the 16 year old (is this the one rode hard and put away wet, because she didn’t look 16 to me) - I thought she was too breathy and I don’t think her voice is going to work on a variety of songs. Randy annoyed me with his comment about her being 16 proves all the people wrong who think 16 is too young because she can sing. The reason people think 16 is too young has nothing to do with talent, it has to do with them being able to handle the pressure and stress. Also, they’d be better off finishing high school first.

The 44 year old, 28 year old. I’ve seen some people who don’t look their age, Johnny Depp might be able to pass for 28, but this guy looked his age and they had to know it before he got through to the judges. That was just for a little “drama”.

Leroy the criminal:

I just saw that on our local news!

I agree. I was shocked the way the judges fell all over praising her; I didn’t think she should’ve made the cut, much less won unanimous praise.

About the psychic: there are a lot of bad singers, but she’s got to be one of the few people trying out who are literally tone deaf. I don’t think she can tell one note from another. Not a good thing, in a singer.

Before she sang, I actually hoped that she would suck, because I knew Simon was going to humiliate her for being fat. I breathed a sigh of relief when she started singing. She didn’t sing a single note on key. I’m always so uncomfortable when I hear Simon comment on people’s weight. BTW, those triplets the other night were not fat. They were curvy! What’s wrong with people these days when they are considered fat?

Let’s face it; this is a competition to find a pop singing star, and looks matter (despite Ruben’s success). So it’s reasonable for the judges to comment on someone’s appearance.
