American Idol and talk show guests

I searched and didn’t find a similar thread - I was sure there would be one!
Okay, we are now getting the last American Idol and as I channel surf, I find myself glued to these first stages of selection. What the hell do these people think their talents are? Did they not see the last 3 Idols? Do they not realise that you need to be able to at least sing to get selected? Did they not see the humiliated people who couldn’t sing getting laughed at or told that they sounded like shit in the last Idols? Did they not realise that the ‘feedback’ from Simon is always brutally honest, as in the last Idols? Are they getting paid to appear because they are so awful and it makes compelling TV?
Is this not similar to Talk Show guests - I’m assuming that they watch the Talk show they are going to appear in, but they seemed genuinely appalled and upset when they find out that the reason they have been asked to appear is not a good thing for them.
Even if these people make up the average and lower than average intelligence echilons of society, do they not possess basic powers of reasoning?
Message to these people: ‘If you go on AI and you can’t sing, you will not have a happy time’ (ditto talk shows) Remember what happened to the people who were on these shows when you watched them?

Do they just want to be on TV to hell with the consequences or do they really believe they have talent?

Somehow I have the feeling that Superstar USA and American Idol are the same exact show. I don’t know why.

Whe you say you’re “now getting the last American Idol,” do you mean that you’re now getting the beginning of AI3 (which is still airing here), or the last one, which was AI2?

It’s amazing how many no-talents they can lasso together out of 70,000 hopeful contestants, isn’t it? This season (AI3) absolutely sucks. Without giving any real spoilers, if you like real singing talent, don’t bother to get hooked on this season, you’ll only be disappointed in the results.

And yes, they really do believe they have talent. They’re all apparently as tone deaf as most of America.

I thought it was AI3, but now not so sure, probably is AI2 - the one with a red head whom I believe gets through to the final and the hopefuls in Texas are appalling (Paula A. is sick for some of it).

Oh yeah. The redheaded guy. A lot of people loved him. I don’t know why. A lot of people hate my favorite. I don’t know why.

But everybody agrees that Hung fellow cannot sing. Everybody but naive William. I swear there’s something not quite right with him.

What are you talking about? William Hung is the highlight of this season. He even knows he can’t sing. However, he refuses to be packaged, and do stuff such as making out with babes he doesn’t personally know. That is what makes him a star; he is to many people a repudiation of the overpolishing of other so-called stars
