It hasn’t hurt Clay either. IIRC, he bought his contract back after working with them for a year.
Heres an interesting thought game; who would hire Constantine for advertising purposes and what for?
Easy. He could do an ad for Wisconsin cheese. His cheese-factor is much higher than Mario’s. I’ll miss my Fes. ::sniff:: I liked him.
Note to Constantine re: the Guarini shirt: I know you were going for “ironic”, but face it…you are a Guarini.
Renting a room to one of the Top 12? I was under the impression that Fox paid for their accommodations, which up til now has always been a group situation in a phat mansion.
Here’s a Link to the article citing “personal reasons”
The problem is that he already is tied to 19E. They sign anybody who gets on television to an exclusive one year contract. Last year Nicole Tieri (scooter girl) was upset because she was offered an endorsement deal for scooters and they wouldn’t let her take it. People who auditioned this year are saying that everybody who made it to the judges was tied up for a full year so that there wouldn’t be another William Hung signed to a competitor. My view is that maybe they thought that this way they could start working on Mario’s CD right away and hope it sells whether or not he wins.
I’m starting to hear rumors that Bo Bice is going to quit too.
Are you friggin’ kidding me? If everyone starts to quit, I may have to just give up on Idol - especially if it’s Bo!
I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I’ve seen it in at least three places now.
According to the rumor, it’s because he doesn’t like the contract, 40% goes to American Idol, they say.
I really think it’s a mistake for Mario to quit. How many contestants in the top 12 or 10 have actually gone on to make successful albums? Certainly no one who wasn’t in at least the top 3 (except for maybe Tamyra Gray - I’ve never actually heard one of her songs). Season two’s top 3 probably had the best success to date - Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, and Kimberley Locke have all at least had moderate success.
Honestly, I think it would make more sense for Bo to quit than Mario. Not that I want Bo to quit in any way, because I think the show would seriously lack without him, but I think in a sense he’s too good for this show and I’m afraid that he will be limited too much by the “pop star” label he’ll be signed to.
Has anybody heard anything else about Bo quitting?
No, and it’s bound to be BS. If he was going to bail, he would have done it with Mario. It’s inevitable that Mario quitting would lead to rumors of other “favorites” quitting.
Which reminds me… why do people say Mario was a “favorite” to win? I don’t think anybody expected him to WIN, given his boyband lameness.
You say that like it’s a bad thing. Boy band are very, very, very popular. Plus Mario was a cutie AND from the Boogie Down!
It’s surprising how much leeway I’m willing to give a hometown favorite.
NOOOOOOOOO
I read one story today–of course, I can’t find it now–that the other contestants selected Mario as most likely to win the competition. If that’s true, it demonstrates that these people are completely clueless and also explains why some of them still insist on singing WhitneyCelineMariah songs.
Okay, now Mario sounds like a completely flake. He said he was leaving because of a “feeling” and “intuition” about his personal life. WTF?
No.
But I think he should consider it.
::ouch, that flame hurts::
This guy is 29 years old, looks like he should be with the classic rock band from the 70s. I can not picture him doing any of the song and dance numbers they do on Wednesdays. He’s going to look foolish.
And how is winning going to help him. Yeah, the million bucks will come in handy, but he still has to go out on the road with the rest of the kids and play to teenage girls and their mothers. I doubt that will give him much “cred” with any real rockers.
If it were a singing contest alone, he’s in the top two or three. But overall, he’s seems like a fish out of water.
At least Nikko is back. He’s American Idol material.
Mario said something about there were things in his personal life he needed to pay more attention to. Cryptic, but thats his right.
This is annoying me as well. I keep hearing him called the “favorite” or “frontrunner”. The finals hadn’t even started yet, no one person has really been that much of a standout. If they went by polls I doubt they would have shown Mario in the lead. For that matter, the judges have pretty much told Bo that it’s his contest to lose. The media just has to make it seem more dramatic.
Simon said more than once after a performance that Mario could win it all. That’s what I think all this frontrunner talk is coming from. And again I ask, why is boyband bad? This is American Idol not American Significant Icon or American Serious Artist. Boyband always does well here.
