Next week is apparently the ‘wild card’ show - I’m unsure how they are picking the axed acts that get to try again.
But, yeah - not a lot to choose from.

I wish West Springfield Dance Team would have gone through, but I 'm glad they have a shot as a wild-card act.
I can’t believe they brought back Those Funny Little People and the Kinetic King.
But thinking about it, maybe they’re being brought back as sacrificial lambs. Or maybe in the** Kinetic King**'s case it’s out of pity.
If it takes him 36 hours to set up each one how on earth would Kinetic King be viable as a Vegas, two shows a night headliner?
I liked Gymkana pretty well, and they’re neighbors so I’ll root for them until someone else captures my attention.
There wasn’t anyone teased on the wild card show that I’m excited to see again.
I think there’s a certain amount of theatrics to Piers’ buzzing, but I very often find myself agreeing with what he says.
Am barely looking at it now. I’m mad at it. Haven’t seen the black guy with dreads who sings like Sinatra.
I no longer have a dog in this fight.
Hasn’t he scrubbed enough tires?!?!? (I like the backstories.)
You must have missed a show: he was in the third batch, and was sent through to the semis.
I noticed the wild card was chalk full of magicians…to which there isn’t one in the tourney to make it so far. I think AGT wants a magician to go through.
and I am rooting hard hard HARD for Those Funny Little People. I love them and cannot stop laughing when they perform.
Did anyone take note of what the Wild Cards are? I’m curious to see if they put all of the 4th/5th place acts through, that is, whichever ones got eliminated by the ‘Judges Choice’ each week. (We already know the You Tube one is going on.)
Yeah, without checking - I read somewhere that all of the fifth place acts are in the wild-card, and then filled in with however many other slots were left.
Okay, I’m confused. Now, I missed the first hour, but I did see the second hour and thus the recap. Everyone was familiar, except for one act.
So…who is Shevonne?? I’d swear there was nobody by that name in any of the four quarter finals or the You Tube show. So…did we have some last minute substitution? Some scandal? A miscount on the votes? What?
I looked her up, she only got a few seconds of air time the first time around.
I’m on the West coast. I just got up to Seth Grabel. That was horrible. He spins around in a ring and then, magically, behind a wall of sparks nobody can see behind, makes a car appear ::yawn::
Oh, and he has little kid versions of the judges. Meh. I did like little Sharron though.
As I said, I only saw the last six acts but none of them left me feeling “Wow! How did they get eliminated before?”
Of them I enjoyed the rope skippers the most, but really, don’t much care if they go through or not.
Yeah, the skippers, one or both magicians, maybe the bikes.
I was disappointed that the King whimped out. It was an impressive chain reaction, but I missed seeing all of the sticks jumping. But I guess he really didn’t want to have another epic failure on national TV.
I think they are funny too. I’d pay to see them before people skipping rope. I missed why Piers buzzed the girl singers. Was it because they were off key or that the lyrics were too adult. I agree with Howie that they could have a kids show.
Seth Grabel is always terrible. I really have an Emporer’s New Clothes kind of feeling when the judges speak so positively of him. He’s the one that used the horribly obvious “switch behind the passing doors” bit in an earlier trick. There, the person in the hoodie who took his place was a woman, so she was obviously much smaller than he was anyway!
I thought his last “illusion”, where he was lowered into the boiling pot and then someone else was put into a cannon that fired confetti towards the tub of water on the other side of the stage was awful as well.
The car trick last night was pathetic. A wall of steam obscures a car that slides out from the rear! Horrible.
He buzzed them basically because he thought they were too young - he thinks their voices need to mature. Kind of dick move to buzz them, though. He was very complimentary about them when explaining it, though, so I guess he gets a few points for that.
I have no idea why Sharon brought them back - Avery (the lead) is OK, I guess - but the harmonies are weak at best (and often just off), and the girl with glasses doesn’t seem to have many dance moves either.
Further - from the recap just before they came on, they were in tears when they got booted last time; I can’t imagine it’ll go any better this time around.
They do need to drop either Howie or Piers next year though - I don’t know if the feud is real, staged, or some of both (I suspect the latter with quite a bit of actual animus, but played up) - but it’s grown very old. A pity, because I think they fill complentary judge slots - Piers is fairly analytical and seems to judge pretty consistently with an eye towards what would probably actually work in a show (if a bit biased against gay-seeming acts). Howie champions (generally) the quirkly, more side-showy things (which are the acts I watch for).
So this is the first time in a while that I have said…they really need to get new judges.
I absolutely cannot stand the stupid Piers/Howie dynamic, and Sharon throwing her nose into the mix is just making it godawful. They barely even judge anymore, just snipe at each other the whole time and give a small “sure” or “not sure”.
I really do love all the judges as their separate pieces…but this last show I got SO annoyed by them just talking with each other the whole time.
Agreed. I also wasn’t thrilled by the other magician either.
As a kid I absolutely loved magic and magic acts. But magicians like those two are starting to turn me off from it.
YES!
I usually don’t vote, but last night I gave all my 10 votes to the West Springfield Dance Team and a few minutes ago they went through!
I love their creepy style.
The King made it!? I’m going to assume that the nerds stuffed the online ballet.
There’s no way he’s going to win - but “Woo-hoo!!”
I do enjoy the West Springfield Dance Team…but you could not have told me that they would have won over that pretty singer girl…I never ever would have believed you; I still don’t.
Good for them though.
Semi-Tangental: Judges…seriously…stop bickering and judge.
