Is it possible that there are amnesic drugs (such as date rape drugs) which are not known to the public and to (the majority of) medical doctors? By amnesic, I mean anterograde amnesia: after taking medication the person won’t be able to create any new memory.
After some Googling, I found the following ones: Rohypnol, GHB and Ketamine. I know some other drugs that also influence memory (such as benzodiazepine) but they are not considered “date rape drug” probably because of their other side-effects possibly severely influencing muscular and sexual functions of the body therefore the person cannot be sexually assaulted.
But is that list complete? I suspect that there is some other drugs used by people or groups of higher power? (a stupid/silly example: US Special Forces or CIA to interrogate or to do some dangerous/strange things, or by some psychiatrists to therapize their patients who were once the victims of childhood sexual abuse). Have you heard of such a known-by-few drug? Maybe, you are a medical doctor/therapist/someone in the pharmaceutical or someone who is close to them and would like to inform us here?
I’m not sure why a we’d know about any drugs that the general public or the majority of medical doctors don’t know about.
Anyways, right off the bat, you missed Versed. The anterograde amesia drug. It’s typically (IME) the first drug you get before you have surgery so you don’t remember anything that happens to you between getting that shot and actually falling asleep (remembering anything if you wake up before they want you to). It’s also what they (may) use for a twilight sedation if you’re having an endoscopy.
Moving on, from the wiki page on Anterograde Amnesia
" One cause is benzodiazepine drugs such as; midazolam, flunitrazepam, lorazepam, temazepam, nitrazepam, triazolam, clonazepam, alprazolam, diazepam, and nimetazepam; all of which are known to have powerful amnesic effects. This has also been recorded in non-benzodiazapine sedatives or “z-drugs” which act on the same set of receptors; such as zolpidem (also known as Ambien), eszopiclone (also known as Lunesta), and zopiclone (also known by brand names Imovane and Zimovane)"
I’m not familar with the other names in their. However, I think it’s things like Versed and Rohypnal (and we’ve all heard stories about Ambian) than Valium/Ativan/Klonapin/Xanax. While I understand their in the same class, you don’t often hear about healthy, young to middle aged sober people taking some Xanax and not remembering anything that happened for the rest of the night.
Dude, I am a woman, all it takes for me to be raped is a convenient hole and someone with something they want to insert. My ability to move has absolutely nothing to do with how rapeable I am … and I doubt a rapist is concerned about my ability to personally lubricate. [or enjoy what is happening to me.]
Though I have had surgical prep experience with versed [milk of amnesia :p] and from what I understand I was functioning and able to take orders but I don’t remember a damned thing [which considering they were shoving large needles of meds into my neck so they could cut it open and dig out a couple of my parathyroid glands is probably a good thing … I woke up with no particular ability to feel what they were doing while digging around in my neck and able to chat wit the surgeon to prevent damage to my vocal cords or the nerves in the area. I could have pulled a train of everybody in the OR as long as they kept hitting me with versed and I would have no memory of it, and functioned perfectly well being ordered around.
