Early radio reports this morning suggested he thought she was a burglar but I guess the “truth” won’t out until the trial.
Sounds a great deal like he was “making a point” and overstated it. Very common in domestic situations.
Apparently he kept a pistol by the bedside and a “machine gun” by the window, this in a gated community. What I find most problematic about the intruder claim, if indeed one was made, is that apparently she was shot 4 times. That’s a whole lot of plugging without stopping to see what kind of an effect you’re having.
She wouldn’t go down. 
I don’t understand why the fact that he has no legs makes this so fucking hilarious to so many people.
It’s insensitive to the edge of cruelty, on some levels, but it’s not that Pistorius has no legs; it’s that he has hyper-legs out of an sf novel and is a serious contender in a sport that requires legs. That is a certain degree of setup.
Merged two threads about the shooting - one in The Game Room and one in MPSIMS. There is a separate thread mostly about gun law stuff in IMHO.
Because it’s an easy setup for a bunch of shitty puns. I think I’ve heard some variant on “this story has/doesn’t have legs” ten times already this morning.
If you think this is bad, never venture into the Death Pool threads. We have no shame and no heart there.

How will they ask him to “take the stand” in court without sounding crass? 
I cannot conceive of what reason you might have to post this other than to troll. If you’d like to continue posting here, lay off this sort of inflammatory comment.

Has anyone done the obvious “legless man shoots unarmed girlfriend” headline yet?
It’s pretty obvious to me that this story has all the earmarks of a superhero origin story.
Pistorius has powers that he uses by engaging different legs at his disposal - lightning sprint, super leap, rocket booster, jackhammer - but he’s kept them under wraps.
Until now, his leg research has just been for his own scientific pursuits, but now that his girlfriend has been killed by a rival scientist, framing him, he’s going to dedicate his life to fighting crime.
The public and the media are against him, so after he springs jail (literally), he’ll have to live underground until he can put together the evidence that proves his own innocence and the rival’s guilt. Who, incidentally, is a one-armed man.
I don’t think it was any more crass than the rest of the thread, once you realize **movax **meant that Pistorius is an affirmative-action hire.
