"Amutterance" apreciation thread

In little over a month the teeming millions have added almost 400 highly descriptive and, no doubt, desperately needed words to the English language. The “Word game or Amutterance” thread http://www.straightdope.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/003783.html is the very first thing I check when I log on to the SDMB.

I’m curious about how other contributors come up with their definitions and new words. I’m still not sure what system I’m using, except that it involves a lot of flipping through the dictionary looking for word roots and a little imagination.

If you have any comments about the Amutterance thread, you can post them here and help maintain the “purity” of the other thread.

Well thanks, Mr. Fudd. This is actually a little game my parents played with us when we were kids. We were so poor though we could only use the first 13 letters of the alphabet.

I got a couple e-mails from some other dopers expressing thanks also.

Maybe, after I write SqrlCub’s road trip diary I’ll work on compiling that thread. Don’t hold your breath though.
