An Amazon question or two (the online store)

I often visit sites where the person running the site has linked to a number of items on Amazon through their affiliate program.
I also listen to music at live365.com and there is a “click the song to buy the cd on amazon” button that I can use. However, I don’t buy CDs and stuff one at a time, I usually wait till I have a couple of things in my basket before I request a shipment.

Sooooo, the question is, if I add items to my basket from a number of different affiliate sites, and at a later point purchase it all at once by logging in as normal to amazon.com, do the affiliates still get credited with the purchase?

I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t. Once you’re logged in at Amazon, what’s in your cart? If it’s empty, then no, you can’t stash affiliate purchases in the cart.

But don’t trust me. I just shop there. For the <heh> straight dope, drop them a line - you’ll need to wend your way through the help department for this.

This came up on another site and if I remember correctly only one affiliate will be credited for you purchase. I believe it would be the affiliate whose link was used for the session in which the purchase was made.

I believe there’s a 24-hour rule. Once you click an affilate link, you have 24 hours to place something in the shopping basket. The webmaster gets credit for these and only these things, whenever the purchase is made.

If you then click another affliliate link before purchasing, then everything resets.
