An Apartment Dwellers (mild) Rant

I hate this.
My slimey landlord has pulled my lease. I have to move. Now. (well, actually, within 30 days)

Which means I have to find another apartment. One that I can afford on my (basically non-existant) budget. I live in a small town, almost everyone owns (or rents) and entire house. Apartments are hard to come by. Especially when you don’t have much time to look and moving to a larger town (where an apartments are easier to find) means higher rent, which I can’t afford.

To make matters worse, I just paid my taxes, leaving me with $14.00. Somehow I don’t think $14.00 is going to cover the deposit and/or moving expenses.

I am so pissed off. Why me? I’m a decent tennent (I live alone, I don’t have pets, I’m not home much, and I ALWAYS pay my rent on time). Why not my evil downstairs neighbors… who are rapidly destroying their apartment, and are so loud and unrulely that the neighbors (in the house next door) have complained to the cops about them. But no, the jerks downstairs get to stay, and I have to go.

I hate change. I am monumentally pissed off by this whole thing. I just want to scream.

I know you don’t have much cash but my WAG is that you have rights coming out the wazoo. So you should stand up for them.

Nope, unfortunatly, the slimy landlord is well within his rights.

I had a month-month lease. As is typical of such things (in my area), it could be terminate by either party with 30 days notice. [When there are very few apartments available landlords can get someone to sign pretty much any kind of lease they want]

I’m sure a lawyer could slow down the process (aka buy me some time), but it would be expensive (and probably not productive in the end) and since I’m broke, it’s not really an option.
