Zenster, I think this has gone well beyond venting. Your reasoning side seems to be being eaten by disquiet and anger and it isn’t getting better. In all seriousness, please find someone to talk to.
Zenster I’m soooo glad the British Gov. was not run by hate filled people like you when some of my countrymen where blowing up pubs/streets/innocent civilians including children. I’d be toast if people like you where in power.
Get help or at least get a grip.
BTW: bombing Afghanistan back to the Stone Age is not a solution. They’re already there. Their country currently has little economy to speak of, mainly just drugs and war. War with each other and now war with us.
Folks, Zenster’s over-reaction is exactly what I’m talking about when I say that keeping the populace at a fever-pitch of fear is counter-productive and stupid.
There are better, lower-key ways of keeping people informed.
im guessing E72521 is a prisioner id # of some schmuck sitting in lockdown in Texas…
Would Al Gore handle this better than George W. Bush? Yes, without a question. George W. Bush knows much less than Al Gore in diplomacy or foreign affairs.
Would Al Gore’s administration handle this better than George W. Bush’s administration? Probably not. There are some real pros in both parties.
Would Ralph Nader or his administration handle this at all? Probably not. And that was one of the main reasons you shouldn’t have voted for him.
Pardon my Zwahali butt this is about the stupidest damn premise I’ve seen yet. Watching your partisanship and logic dance is somewhat akin to watching a tree squirrel fuck a manatee. You’re trying to convince us of what? Next time, breathe while you write.
For the record, last year I could not have pointed out Afghanistan’s borders on a map. Should next year’s assult come from Bumfuckistan, my plight will again be the same. I did know where Saudi Arabia was. And Iraq. And Israel. But this has been a learning experience for us all.
Think any messages we might have intercepted from al Qaida said “Climb Mount Atlanta” or “Mount Houston” or “Peoria”? Doubt it. All we likely have is a very strong indication that something is about to happen somewhere. Law enforcement officials were told first, then the public was made aware of the alert. To do anything less would have been criminal.
I think George surrounded himself with some pretty capable people. They feel we should be alert. Good by me. Who knows, maybe a vigilant public thwarted any event planned for October the 11th, the date of the last alert. If so, let’s do it again.
Support’s not waning and if it was, just show those planes slamming a few more times, or a tired and sooty firefighter, or a wall covered with pictures. Your assertion they’re crying wolf to cover their collective asses is laughable.
You said that maybe “they are lying by telling us they don’t know when or where it will happen” and followed with "You’re pretty fuckin’ stupid if you believe the government knows of an imminent attack on US citizens and is just going to sit back and wait for CNN to break in with a news flash. Heh heh, NFS.
And for fuck’s sake, you really miss the national embarassment of executive trout puffing? The guys in Washington are a little too busy and take their responsibilities a little too seriously for such bullshit. Try an office in Harlem but please, I really don’t want to know about it this time.
Deal?
(emphasis mine)
And gato, we’re now passing legislation to prevent capital punishment of the retarded. How’s that for timing?
