On Friday at the Alltell Pavilion, the (debatably) greatest bluesman, TAJ MAHAL is going to be performing with the Dave Matthews Band. I am driving up from Myrtle Beach for the weekend.
After a couple of weeks putzing around on the SDMB, I think I may be ready to meet some of the more outgoing dopers.
Dude, if I was going to be anywhere near there, I would definately show! I love Dave Matthews and am increasing my appreciation of jazz. However, since I live in MICHIGAN I don’t think I’ll make it!
Finally!! We’re starting to get the makings of a Dopefest that won’t require me to take a week off work!
blessedwolf, I’m in MB, too (actually, I live in Surfside and work in MB). I can’t make it on Friday (loads of relatives coming to visit), but maybe if there are a few more people in the vicinity of Eastern SC, we could arrange a beer-swillin’, pool-shootin’, food-that’s-really-bad-for-you eatin’ get-together (or whatever you all would prefer to do ) some other time.
Oh, good lord. I consider the Letters to the Editor section of the Sun News the humor page. Either that, or a sign that I should run away and run fast.
Aack! You’re right. I know it’s on Friday night, but I’m not sure of the time. It’s at the Alltell Pavilion in Raleigh (which used to be Hardee’s Walnut Crook Amphitheatre).
I’ll look into more details such as time and cost, etc. and fill you in.
Whod’a thunk it? Show has been sold out for about two weeks now. So–to all the dopers who were thinking about joining me, we’ll have to wait until next time.
Yep it is sold out. I tried to get tickets earlier in the week. I thought I was going to be out of town this weekend but my plans were canceled at the last minute. Course there are always the tickets that people try to sell at the last minute, but I guess I’ll just work this weekend instead and get some things caught up.
…and I’m really upset about it being sold out. Next month Taj Mahal is touring Japan, and I have no clue when he’ll be back in the area.
If the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach were worth a damn, I’d be able to sit back and wait. But no, they’d prefer to have Ween and KC and the Sunshine Band than real blues. Bastards.
Hell, I’ll probably go to the Triangle anyway to see the 'rents for their anniversary (37 years! WOW!) and to play with their cats. So the weekend won’t be a total waste.
