ELO’s drummer took a stint at drumming for Black Sabbath.
So I guess that means ELO influenced Black Sabbath. So you’re right, it matters, glad we could clear this up.

Eventually, everybody will get in.
He also created the abomination that was ELO Part 2.
Post of the week.
I understand they were also heavily influenced by ELO. The list gets longer…
You can also take a listen to Daft Punk’s Discovery, which is just 21st century ELO with a French accent. (Of course ELO already did this in ‘Time’, segueing “21st Century Man” into 'Hold On Tight" avec la France lyrics. It all makes perfect sense!)
Damn! Didn’t you just post
I’d hate to see what you say about somebody you don’t like!
I’m a little surprised at the lack of support for Bob in this thread. Regardless of whether ELO got shafted, deserved to get in, and whether the concept of a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame even makes sense, given that there is a Hall of Fame, Seger must be included. If only for (off the top of my head) Turn the Page, Night Moves, Rock 'n Roll Never Forgets, Beautiful Loser, Stranger in Town, Main Street, Get out of Denver, Roll Me Away. . .
Even his “Little Drummer Boy”. That’s turned into my favorite overplayed Christmas song. Right up there with Springsteen’s “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
Okay, yeah, disclaimer time. I’m from Detroit, so I might not be the most impartial observer . . .
Well, this IS the Pit.
I think that most of us who understand and appreciate blue collar Rock and Roll:
Most of the complaints on this thread have been about the lack of 70s and 80s bands, but the Hall of Fame still hasn’t inducted Carole King, for example. The issue is not fairness, it is about whining that “my favorite” has not been inducted while somebody “I” didn’t particularly like has.
I don’t need to defend Bob Seger. People who recognize his quality will not be turned off by this rant and people who don’t enjoy him will not be persuaded of his quality by any claims I post.
It is not possible to argue a person out of a position that he or she did not arrive at through reason.
I screwed that up on purpose, to see who the real fans were!
But was he eligible before then? (Can’t remember right now when the HoF got started.)
You are correct. No one can complain about that. “Hey Joe” was released in December 1966. The Jimi Hendrix Experience was inducted in 1992.
You can see all inductees since 1986 (when it started) here http://www.rockhall.com/hof/allinductees.asp
Thank God. That scared me.
Not to worry people before it’s all said and done EVERY band, solo artist, pop star will be in. These people can’t get enough of praising and honoring themselves so until they run out, everyone has a chance regardless of talent.
By the way has Budgie made it? Great Band!
They did add Gerry Goffin and Carole King in 1990 as non-performers, but not her as a solo songwriter or performer.
Medieval Woman??
Is that what they were singing???
I just don’t understand lyrics…
You have a problem with Etta James, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell?
(Even though I’m likely being whooshed)
Uh, no. It’s “Evil Woman”.
This is one of the most common misheard lyrics.
What!? No Alice Cooper?!
Oh, wait. Looks like he’s got an exhibit anyway…
Okay, carry on.
The initial J bugs me…
Etta James: I will plead ignorance. Influential it would seem.
The other two: I’m just a bitter. Hearing James Taylor hawk MCI (nee WorldCom) with his Marvin Gaye cover on TV all day is making me ill.
