An Ode (and Supplication) to Burt's Bees

I LOVE the Avocado Butter Hair Treatment! My hair is very dry, and I use it every few weeks and then my hair feels like it is thick and has body. It doesn’t, but this stuff sure helps me fake it for a while.

The last tube I bought came with a comb and a shower cap with little bees all over it. It is so cute - and I did, too, need a new shower cap.

I just used mine two days ago on the tiniest, most painful eyebrow pimple ever. The next day it was not painful and no longer red and today it’s gone. That and the pore-refining mask (green clay that you mix yourself) are my favorites so far, and I’m nearly out of both. I’ve put them both in my cart at amazon though (along with, I think, the lettuce toner, which I haven’t tried); I’m just waiting for money now. Hooray!

Not sure, but I may be the only male to respond to this thread so far.

Mrs. Rhubarb, my (infinitely) better half, got me a Burt’s Bees sample pack at Xmas. I’m not really a “lotions and potions” sorta guy, but I’m the sort that always has Chapstick (mint) in my pocket, have actively sought out mint shampoo and conditioner, and recently bought a bar of Burt’s Peppermint Shower Soap. (Mint, good. [/Tarzan])
I liked all of the products in the kit except the Lavender Mint Toothpaste. Tried it twice. Tastes like lightly flavored pumice and the lavender overtones are just weird. YMMV

I see Burt’s stuff pretty much everywhere lately, but I first ran across it 3-4 years ago in my hardware store!.

So I went back to amazon just now to check out the Avocado Butter Hair stuff. For four items (toner, blemish stick, mask, hair stuff), my total (including S&H) is $40. How the hell do I justify that? BTW, you can find the lip balm for a penny over there. Right here to get all specific and stuff.

They no longer make my favorite product, which was a citrus face spritzer for oily skin. I loved it and when they stopped making it, I started hoarding my face stuff for special occasions. I also like the orange peel face cleanser and many of the other products y’all have listed.

I love the bay rum shaving soap, because it makes my boyfriend’s neck smell SOOO GOOOD. mmmm, bay rum. (He likes it, too. He loves using the shaving brush in the mug with the soap)

FYI - Watch out for the S&H fees - it appears that Mind Body Source charges $3.50 for a shipment charge, plus $1.95/item. It seems the lip balm is a loss leader of sorts…

I never go anywhere without my “Res-Q Ointment”. It works on boo-boos, dry patches, cuticles, lips (in a pinch) and smells great! I have pots in my car and purse, and if I ever find myself without it, I can ask my boy, because he carries a pot in his pocket to ward off eczema itchies.

I’m a DHC Skin Care girl (olive oil based cleanser from Japan), and Bare Minerals/Escentuals and/or Bobbi Brown for makeup…but…I adore that Burt’s Bees parsley roll-on thingie for blemishes. It zaps 'em proper overnight.

VCNJ~

I like Burt’s Bees so much I sell them in my food store (not the whole line, tho)! The Garden Tomato Complexion soap makes a great shaving lotion - I get a much closer shave than when I use Gillette or some other canned product. And the Rosewater & Glycerin Toner makes a most excellent aftershave. I don’t like commercial after have lotions as the odor is always too strong, no matter how little I use. The toner gives a nice tingle, tightens up the cheekers, and leaves a very light and pleasant scent.

I used to sell two or three of the different gift packs, but with the prices approaching 8-10 no one would ever buy them. So one day I emptied them all out and now sell the components individually for .99 each and they sell much better.

The lip balm is okay if your lips aren’t all that dry. But my lips go from fine to cracking open in a couple of hours, and smearing peppermint oil on broken skin…ohmahgawd that HURTS!!! It’s even worse than not diluting Dr. Bronner’s enough before washing your girlie bits, and that’s really, really bad. It burnses us, it does.

Enjoy the burn! Love the burn!

I’ve had a sinus infection and headcold all week (what, y’all didn’t notice me posting all day non-stop? I’m bored, sick and pregnant, so I can’t even take anything for it, dammit!) and got that awful chapped and peeling upper-lip/nose thing, with accompanying split, cracked and bleeding lips.

I started out with Chapstick. Moved to Blistex, then Carmex, then my homemade calendula salve 'cause the Carmex hurt too much. Nothing. Worked. On my 873rd trip to the Walgreens next door for more tissues, I picked up a Burt’s Bees Lipbalm. I…uh…didn’t notice the peppermint oil.

 WOOOOOOHEEEEEEEE!!!

That’ll wake you up.

But after about 5 minutes of hoping around with my eyes tearing, my lips were better! The next morning, they were *really *better! As in, no more chappies, nevermind the cracked and bleeding thing.

It’s been miraculous, not only on the lips but on the skin above my upper lip and the bottom of my nose. The smell also helps clear out my sinuses for about 3.5 minutes.
